HEART is a Christian faith-based non-profit (501 (c) 3) organization

The focus of HEART is to empower the people of Africa to survive the HIV/AIDS pandemic through facilitating integrated collaborative projects such as: HIV prevention education messages combating the spread of HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria, and Typhoid; developing economic infrastructure, gender equality, leadership development, and building capacity for good governance and by working closely with local leaders (teachers, pastors, chiefs etc.) in establishing “Community Based Organizations” (CBO) at the grass roots level.

HEART assists these CBO’s to launch sustainable micro-enterprise projects which empower those affected by HIV/AIDS to care for themselves, and the orphaned and vulnerable children of their families and villages.

HEART is a registered TRUST in Kenya and has a fully qualified board of Kenyan Trustees who work with the American counterpart of HEART a 501 C-3 organization comprised of health professionals and concerned business leaders.

HEART Logo in Times Square!

HEART Executive Director Vickie Winkler recently attended an Awards Ceremony in New York City, where the sponsors, “Invest in Others were honored by opening the Stock Market and a rotating display on the NASDAQ building in Times Square, that included the HEART logo!

Steve Werner, a Rotary friend, and his wife Pat (photo below) have done some amazing things in Kenya, including building a school and helping raise over $60,000 for our Freedom for Girls project. In honor of Steve's being a finalist, “Invest in Others” donated a $5,000 award to HEART for his work.

Keynote speaker “Chef Jeff” Henderson asked to be photographed with Vickie. Jeff is an award winning chef, food network television personality and New York Times bestselling author of Cooked: From the Streets to the Stove, The Power of Change.

Since our official start in 2000, HEART has had eleven years of explosive growth. Over 600 volunteer team members have traveled to Kenya to help us accomplish our work with the people of Kenya. Although HEART will continue to host US teams to help us do our work, we have developed a competent, professional Kenyan staff and the work now will continue year around.

To inquire about the HEART Lodge or plan your stay, contact Charles Obes, Lodge Manager

HEART’s unique approach of having the US and Kenyan teams hosted in villagers’ homes has been a bridge to building real friendships throughout the nation of Kenya. Our train-the-trainer approach to teaching the facts and separating out the myths in a free exchange of ideas has been phenomenally successful.

HEART provides a variety of programs with a growing number of partners, symbolized by this image:
