Max was first introduced to HEART (and Kenya) in 2013 on a mission trip with Bayside Church. The people he met and the stories shared fundamentally altered his perspective, and inspired him to become more involved. The following summer, Max returned to serve as HEART’s intern coordinator in 2014, getting to know HEART, its staff, its mission, and those it serves more deeply.
Max returned again with his wife, McKinley, in 2019 as part of their extended honeymoon, and they spent several days assisting HEART’s staff with various office projects. Max has stayed in touch with many of his friends there. Each visit deepens Max’s appreciation for the resilience and spirit of the people he meets. Their influence on him has been lasting, and in response, he remains devoted to giving back in ways that create real and enduring impact.
Max is a complex commercial litigation attorney with the law firm Gray Reed. He is about to celebrate 7 years of marriage with his wife, McKinley. They live in Houston, Texas with their golden retriever, Harvey. Together, they enjoy traveling and discovering new places, and spending time with friends and family.
